Grinding-Gouging Wear

This type of wear is related more to dry conditions such as materials handling systems. The primary factors here are moderate to high load with low to moderate
flow. In this instance the wear rate is affected by the density and percentage of solids in the flow. The wearing surfaces must be harder than the particles to resist this form of wear.

Typically seen on Leading edges of screw augers, Cutting edges, Crushing machinery and Mining equipment – ball mills, roller mills.
