ARC S1HB

Chesterton’s new ARC industrial coating improves surface protection on hard-to-coat surfaces, such as highly embossed steel and heavily damaged concrete.

Chesterton’s latest innovation in coating protection is ARC S1HB, a low-VOC, single-coat barrier coating that protects metal and concrete surfaces from corrosive exposure. The high properties of S1HB ensure maximum coating coverage on 90° edges and corners with minimal thinning on edges, corners, edges or other geometric irregularities.

ARC S1HB includes a fluorescent pigment that allows applicators to perform an immediate quality inspection using an ASTM E2501 approved portable UV light source. These checks can be carried out during application, speeding up the application process and ensuring the final quality is second to none.

The ARC S1HB allows for in-process inspection to identify pinhead errors in layers as thin as 6 microns. At the same time, it ensures uniformity of coverage and film thickness,” explains Stephen Bowditch, Director of Product Line Management for ARC Coatings, “The end result will almost always be a more durable and better performing coating installation.”

ARC S1HB is a mineral particle reinforced modified epoxy, chemically cured with an amidoamine hardener. It can be applied as a single coat system or used as a primer for two coat systems.

S1HB adheres and cures on damp and lightly prepared surfaces. It is resistant to a wide range of corrosive agents including H2S, hydrocarbons, sewage run-off, exposure to brackish and marine waters, and dilute acid and alkaline solutions.

 

ARC S1HB is suitable for structures such as:

  • Crude oil storage tanks
  • Chemical storage tanks
  • Thickening tanks
  • piping / penstocks
  • Wastewater clarifiers
  • grit chambers / sand filters
  • Sump / junction boxes
  • Manholes / gutters

 

ARC S1HB is acceptable for use with cathodic protection systems, has high dielectric properties, allowing high voltage di-comb testing to NACE SP 0188.
